Average Experience — Room for Improvement

Experience

I am not going to write a horror story here because my experience with Legacy Resorts Group was not a disaster. But it was not particularly good either, and I think honest middle-ground reviews are just as useful as extreme ones. I had a Sheraton Vacation Club ownership I wanted to sell. The points were nice when we used them in our 40s but we are in our early 70s now and simply do not travel the way we used to. The maintenance fees — around $2,900 annually — were eating into our fixed income more than made sense. Legacy was recommended by my financial advisor as a reputable resale company. The initial call went well. The representative was knowledgeable and the suggested listing range seemed reasonable based on what I could find online. They listed my property and over the next four months, I received monthly updates. The updates were brief — more of a "still active" confirmation than anything meaningful — but they came consistently. When I called in, I could generally reach someone within a day, which is better than some reviews I have since read. A buyer was located at month five. The offer was $21,400, which was mid-range for what we expected. I accepted. The closing took about seven weeks and was smooth. My main criticism is that the updates could have been more substantive — what markets they were showing my listing in, how many inquiries they had fielded, that kind of information. I had to ask for details rather than receiving them. Three stars. They did their job. There is room to do it better.

What Went Well

Consistent monthly check-in emails and reasonable response times when I called. Closing was straightforward.

What Went Wrong

Updates were too generic to be genuinely useful. Could be more transparent about actual marketing activities.

Advice for Others

Ask for specifics on their marketing channels upfront and ask them to include that information in their regular updates.
