My husband and I had tried to handle this ourselves for over a year with no success. Within 3 months of signing with this company, our property was sold and the transfer was complete. The final amount was $29,500. The whole experience was far less stressful than we anticipated.

What went well:

Professional handling and outcome matched what was promised.

We worked with this company for about 5 months and came away satisfied with both the process and the outcome. From our first call, the team was professional and knowledgeable. They explained every step clearly and we never felt left in the dark. The final result was exactly what they had outlined at the beginning. Cost came in at $16,000 as quoted. We would use them again.

Slow Process and Inconsistent Updates

I have been hesitant to write this review because the sale did eventually go through, and I do not want to be unfair. But after eight months of frustration, I think other people deserve an honest account of what to expect. My wife and I owned a Bluegreen vacation package we had barely used in four years. The maintenance fees had become a real financial strain — over $2,800 per year — and we decided a resale was our best option. We came to Legacy Resorts Group because they appeared to specialize in marketed resales rather than direct exits. The first meeting was encouraging. The representative we worked with knew the Bluegreen secondary market and gave us realistic expectations about value. We agreed on a listing price and paid the upfront fee, which was $1,400. After that, the communication essentially stalled. We received a form email every three weeks or so confirming our listing was "active." When we called for specifics, we were often put on hold and then told someone would follow up. The follow-ups rarely came on the day promised. At month five, we were told a buyer was interested. This felt like progress, but the negotiation phase stretched another ten weeks because the buyer kept changing their offer parameters and our case manager seemed to have very little control over the timeline. The sale closed at $17,800. It was at the lower end of the range they originally quoted. The transfer completed and we received the funds. The outcome was acceptable. The process was not. If better companies exist in this space, I would try them first.

What went well:

They did find a real buyer and the legal transfer was handled without errors.

Mixed experience overall. The team was polite and knowledgeable, but communication during months three through five was sparse. Things picked up in month 6 and we closed successfully at $27,500. Would cautiously recommend — just stay on top of them.

What went well:

The outcome was as promised and the legal transfer completed cleanly.

I worked with this company for approximately 13 months to complete my timeshare deed-back. The initial consultation took about 3 weeks, during which they reviewed my ownership documents and explained their 2-phase process in detail. Phase 1 involved document collection and contract analysis, which was thorough and professional. Phase 2 was the negotiation with the resort, where my case manager kept me informed throughout. The team communicated regularly via email and phone calls. The final phase involved signing release documents and waiting for resort confirmation. I received my official release letter 2 weeks after the paperwork was submitted. Total cost: $3300 (as quoted). I would recommend this company to others in similar situations.

What went well:

They were knowledgeable about my specific resort's processes and programs.

The process took 7 months — a bit longer than the estimate — and communication was inconsistent in the middle stretch. But the outcome was solid: our property sold for $21,800 and the transfer was clean. Three stars because the journey was bumpier than it needed to be, but they delivered.

What went well:

The outcome was as promised and the legal transfer completed cleanly.

Overpromised on Timeline, Underdelivered on Communication

The most frustrating part of my experience with Legacy Resorts Group is not that things went slowly — resale markets are unpredictable and I understood that going in. The frustrating part is that they were not honest about what was happening. I owned a Diamond Resorts unit that I had purchased about seven years ago. The maintenance fees had gone up every single year and I had stopped being able to use the property due to availability issues. I contacted several companies before settling on Legacy. Their pitch was confident — they quoted a four to five month timeline and seemed genuinely familiar with Diamond point packages. The marketing fee was $1,200. I paid it and we started. Month three: a form email. Month four: another form email. When I called, I got a live person who told me the market was "seasonal" and things would pick up. Month five: same. Month six: I asked to speak with a manager. I was told one would call me by end of week. End of week came and went. In month seven, I received a call saying there was a potential buyer. The offer came in significantly below our listing price. I countered and the buyer walked. We then waited another six weeks for the next inquiry. We are now at month ten. I am still waiting. I am still paying maintenance fees on a property I do not want. The $1,200 upfront fee is gone regardless of outcome. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience so far.

What went well:

The initial consultation was detailed and the rep knew the Diamond Resorts secondary market.

What went well:

The outcome was as promised and the legal transfer completed cleanly.

Average Experience — Room for Improvement

I am not going to write a horror story here because my experience with Legacy Resorts Group was not a disaster. But it was not particularly good either, and I think honest middle-ground reviews are just as useful as extreme ones. I had a Sheraton Vacation Club ownership I wanted to sell. The points were nice when we used them in our 40s but we are in our early 70s now and simply do not travel the way we used to. The maintenance fees — around $2,900 annually — were eating into our fixed income more than made sense. Legacy was recommended by my financial advisor as a reputable resale company. The initial call went well. The representative was knowledgeable and the suggested listing range seemed reasonable based on what I could find online. They listed my property and over the next four months, I received monthly updates. The updates were brief — more of a "still active" confirmation than anything meaningful — but they came consistently. When I called in, I could generally reach someone within a day, which is better than some reviews I have since read. A buyer was located at month five. The offer was $21,400, which was mid-range for what we expected. I accepted. The closing took about seven weeks and was smooth. My main criticism is that the updates could have been more substantive — what markets they were showing my listing in, how many inquiries they had fielded, that kind of information. I had to ask for details rather than receiving them. Three stars. They did their job. There is room to do it better.

What went well:

Consistent monthly check-in emails and reasonable response times when I called. Closing was straightforward.

They Got the Job Done But It Was Not Easy

I am giving Legacy Resorts Group three stars because that feels like the most honest rating. They delivered a result. The process of getting there was inconsistent and at times genuinely aggravating. I had a Marriott Vacation Club deeded week that my parents originally purchased. After they passed, the property fell to me as part of the estate. I had no interest in using it and the annual fees were about $3,500. Resale seemed like the right approach since the property was a deeded interest rather than a points package. Legacy had experience with deeded Marriott resales, which was a point in their favor. The initial consultation was thorough and my questions were answered clearly. We signed up and paid the marketing fee. The first couple of months were quiet but not alarmingly so. By month three I was expecting more updates. When I called in, the staff were always polite but rarely had specific information. I was told the market for my specific week and resort was "soft" — which may have been true, but I had no way to verify it. Month six brought a buyer inquiry. The offer was lower than I hoped. I countered, they came up slightly, and I accepted. The closing process took another two months because of some complexity around the estate paperwork, which was my situation and not entirely their fault. Net proceeds were $19,600. A bit low, but within range. The transfer completed clean. Serviceable. Not exceptional.

What went well:

Staff were always polite and the team had genuine knowledge of Marriott deeded resales specifically.

Excellent Service from Start to Finish

I worked with this company to exit my Diamond Resorts timeshare after 8 years of ownership. The entire process took 7 months and was handled professionally throughout. Month 1: Initial consultation where they reviewed my contract and ownership history. They identified that Diamond had recently started a voluntary surrender program that I might qualify for. Months 2-3: They prepared my application for the surrender program, including a hardship letter and financial documentation. The case manager coached me on what to include. Months 4-5: Waiting period while Diamond reviewed my application. The company followed up with Diamond weekly and kept me informed of any developments. Month 6: Received conditional approval. Had to sign release documents and agree to forfeit my remaining points. Month 7: Final confirmation received. I'm officially free from all future maintenance fee obligations. Total cost: $2,200 flat fee paid in two installments.

What went well:

Their knowledge of Diamond's internal programs was invaluable. I didn't know the surrender program existed. Communication was consistent throughout - weekly email updates and monthly phone calls. The payment plan option helped with budgeting. They set realistic expectations from day one.
